Board selects new principal for Rose Acres Elementary

The Pattonville Board of Education on March 31 selected Steve Vargo as principal of Rose Acres Elementary, effective July 1, 2009. Vargo is currently principal of Wyland Elementary School in the Ritenour School District. He will replace Barry Nelson, who was selected earlier this year as Pattonville's assistant superintendent for human resources after serving as Rose Acres principal since 2001.

“We are pleased to have Mr. Vargo joining us at Rose Acres,” said Dr. Michael Fulton, superintendent. “I am confident Mr. Vargo will continue Rose Acres’ tradition of excellence. He will be a great addition to the Rose Acres school family and will support the school in continuing to be a great place for our students, families and staff.”

Prior to his principalship in Ritenour, Vargo served as assistant principal and administrative intern at Ballwin Elementary in the Rockwood School District. He was also an elementary health and physical education teacher in Rockwood. Vargo holds a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a master's degree in kinesiology from the University of Illinois-Champaign and a master's degree in educational administration from the University of Missouri-St.Louis. He is currently completing requirements for his doctorate degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
