Pattonville on Top 5 lists in region for black student achievement

The St. Louis Black Leadership Roundtable (BLR) released its newest report card for the region detailing progress on reducing the achievement gap between black and white students. The report shows that while progress has been made in some areas, all schools in the St. Louis area still have much work to do. Pattonville has a number of success stories detailed in the report.

The report by the Black Leadership Roundtable showed Pattonville among the Top 5 school districts in the region for:

  • Highest achievement levels for black students in communication arts for third-graders and eleventh-graders and in math for fourth-graders and eighth-graders (based on MAP index scores);
  • Greatest percentage of black students scoring in the advanced category for  fourth-grade math and eleventh-grade communication arts; and
  • Smallest achievement gap between black and white students in eleventh-grade communication arts; and
  • Highest attendance rates for black students (at 95%).
The new reports were shared during a special event hosted by the BLR on Jan. 25. During the event, Lewis Lee, a parent from Briar Crest Elementary, was recognized by the BLR  for his involvement in Pattonville and at Briar Crest.
