The Modern Language Department at Pattonville High School recently hosted a cultural program for students to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Wayanay Inka, a musical group from Peru that plays authentic Andean music representative of the great Incan civilization, performed for about 300 students in Spanish classes at Pattonville High School. The group members use indigenous instruments including panpipes, a type of flute (la quena), wood flutes(zampoña), percussion(el bombo) and the charango and regular guitars. They played original, classical and contemporary music.

Students in Pattonville's World Dance Class participated in West African Dance Workshop presented by Alicia Williams. Williams performs with Diadie Bathily's West African Dance Company, Afriky Lolo, and has taught classes at COCA (the Center of Contemporary Arts) in St. Louis. During the workshop, students learned various West African dances and their history.
