Isaiah Gadson, a ninth-grader at Pattonville High School, finished seventh out of 116 in the K-9 section at the 2009 National Youth Action Chess Tournament held in Chicago. His team, the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis, repelled challenges from the Chess Club of Minnesota and Westchester Chess Academy of New York and won the K-9 section. His team also finished second in the K-12 Blitz chess event.
