The Pattonville Education Foundation recently awarded more than $10,000 in funds for 19 different grant proposals for programs throughout the Pattonville School District.

Established in 1994, the Pattonville Education Foundation is dedicated to serving Pattonville children and the Pattonville school community by providing funding to support innovative educational programs in Pattonville schools. Major fund-raisers, such as the annual Dinner Dance Auction (coming up on March 6, 2010), as well as gifts from individuals, corporations and businesses provide the financial support for the Foundation’s work.
The individuals who received grants and the titles of their programs are as follows:
- From Briar Crest Elementary - Linda Hydar, Jill Kruse, Jennifer Barge and Amy Taylor for "Razzle Dazzle Reading"; and Cheryl Apel and Melva Arps for "JA BIZ TOWN";
- From Bridgeway Elementary - Tara Perks for "Bulldog Knowledge-A-Thon"; and Mary Ellen Sievers for "Early Literacy for English Language Learners";
- From Drummond Elementary - Shelley McManus, Laura Koebbe, Michele Hill, Ashley Schafluetzel, Nisa Peters and Brooke Uchtman for "Go Green Homework!";
- From Parkwood Elementary - Angela Byrne and Ashley Powers for "Leveled Books for Kindergarten and First Grade";
- From Remington Traditional School - Kelli Risse and Jeannie King for "First-Grade Fluency Fun"; Julie Linck and Lynda Sotolar for "The Daily Five"; and Kelli Risse for "Loud and Clear";
- From Rose Acres Elementary - Michelle Wagner and Mary Spitzmiller for "Reaching All Learners: Using Different Genres to Increase Reading Achievement"; and Ginny Larson for "Summer Reading Book Exchange";
- From Willow Brook Elementary - Debra McCormack, "Social Justice Theme Box";
- From Holman Middle School - Jessica Brandenburg for "Tchoukball (chuke-ball) for Fitness"; and Adam Hall for "Bandroom Sound Equipment";
- From Pattonville Heights Middle School - Carrie Dixon and Katie Schaub for "Weight Training for All - Bar None";
- From Pattonville High School - Kelli Dornfeld for "Digital Expression"; Adam Hall for "Marching Method Books"; and Alysia Harris and Rick Lehman for "SPEAK (Students Promoting Equality Acceptance through Kindness)"; and
- From the Pattonville Learning Center - Margaret Albrecht for "Salvation Army Shelter Literacy Project."
